The 105th annual Childers Show is taking place this Saturday with a range of old favourites and new attractions coming together to create a fun day out for the entire family.
The milestone year means there will be plenty to celebrate, with gates opening at 8 am on Saturday 21 May and the pet show, sideshow alley and wood chopping all kicking off from 10 am.
Tickets to the show can be purchased at the gate and cost $10 for adults, concession and students $5 and under 5s free.
Childers Show Society President Chloe Johnson said the annual event was one that everyone looked forward to.
“Every year we do strive to make it bigger and better,” Chloe said.
“This year the community can expect a family fun day out with entertainment, games, events and wonderful displays in the pavilion to enjoy.
“As the evening draws to a close we will be having a fantastic fireworks display followed by live music at the bar and games for everyone.”
The Childers showgirls and rural ambassadors are as follows:
- 2022 Childers Showgirl – Taylia Snell
- 2022 Childers Junior Showgirl – Anna Bunyan
- 2022 Childers Rural Ambassador – Hannah Weimers

The Black Shed a new addition to Childers Show
Chloe said a number of popular attractions would return to the 2022 Childers Show, along with new offerings including a brand new section called The Back Shed.
“What we are excited about is the re-introduction of our handcrafts section and a brand new section ’The Back Shed’ with the aim of this initiative to get men involved in the show through wood and metal work, home brew and good old fashioned beef jerky,” she said.
“In the pavilion we will have all of the traditional sections including cookery, horticulture, plants and flowers, farm and garden, arts and photography.
“The Childers Show Society eagerly awaits to see all of the incredible handmade wears, baked goods and fresh produce and those with a keen eye behind the lens with the photo entries into the pavilion.
“We are really looking forward to having the egg throwing competition back again this year, the infamous tractor pull and even a Bush Olympics for the whole family to get involved in.”
The Crack-Up Sisters will also be back, providing whip-cracking entertainment for all to enjoy.
