The Zonta Club of Bundaberg is kicking off the year with an exciting fundraiser celebrating the 60th anniversary of the iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s on Saturday, 26 February.

The event, which will be held at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre, is the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends and family while enjoying a fantastic afternoon and supporting a great cause.

Zonta Club of Bundaberg President Le-Anne Allan said events like these were important to the club being able to continue to provide support to women and girls throughout Bundaberg.

“Fundraisers like these are important because we use the funds raised to support the local women and girls within our community,” Le-Anne said.

“Every year we provide a bursary for seven primary school students who are going into middle school which are over $2000 each.

“We also have our Young Women and Public Affairs Awards which goes to a young woman who is standing out in public affairs through university

“We also have a STEPS scholarship through CQU and three of these recipients of those STEPS scholarships are speaking at the International Women’s Day event coming up.”

Le-Anne encouraged the community to purchase tickets to the event and enjoy a fun afternoon.

“After the years we have had, COVID and everything else, plus a very strong 16 days of Activism campaign which is a very solemn message but a very powerful one, I think it is time for all of us to emerge and have a little bit of fun and what an iconic movie,” she said.

“Audrey Hepburn was really a pioneer in her day, for women’s rights but also looking after women.”

The red carpet will be rolled out for the special event, with a number of other activations happening on the day.

Attendees are encouraged to dress up with a prize for the best Holly Golightly costume as well as the Audrey Hepburn themed raffles and lucky door prizes.

Ticket price includes a glass of champagne, bagel and cupcake gourmet pack and the screening of the Breakfast at Tiffany’s movie.

The American romantic comedy film is directed by Blake Edwards, written by George Axelrod, adapted from Truman Capote’s 1958 novella of the same name, and starring Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, a naïve, eccentric café society girl who falls in love with a struggling writer, played by George Peppard.

Moncrieff doors open at noon with the movie commencing at 1.30pm.
