The offshore fishing for this weekend will have to be put on hold until Sunday due to the Coral Reef Fin Fish closure from the 2 November to midnight 6 November.
The weather over the weekend is looking good for the bigger boats.
We have had good reports of red emperor, coral trout, parrot, and large sweet lip all being caught over the previous week.

Bundaberg inshore reporting good school mackeral
For the boats that want to get out the front for a bit of pelagic action, good reports of schoolie mackerel are along our coastline.
Casting any flasha lures or slugs should pick you up a good feed. Spanish mackerel are also being caught trolling large hard bodies or dead baits.
Having a pilchard floating out the back with a lightly weighted sinker will pick you up a feed as these fish move through.
Large whiting in Burnett River
As the water temperature has risen over the last month and a bit of fresh has moved through the river, the fishing has turned on, with good reports of large whiting being caught over the flats using yabbies and beach worms.
Also in the same areas, large flathead have been caught.
Two of our favoured species to catch is the mangrove jack and barramundi.
Using fresh bait like sprat and mullet fillet should pick up a good feed of jacks.
Due to the closure of barramundi (Salt Water) they will be a no take species from 1 November 2021 to 1 February 2022.
Large sized grunter are also moving through the river systems. Fresh prawns or sprat are always good options for bait.
Kolan River and Baffle Creek
Getting closer to summer the water is starting to heat up and the jacks are starting to fire up.
Fresh bait is the best bait.
Using sprat and mullet are the best baits for fishing around mangroves and the deeper rocky holes.
Grunter have also been a regular catch in these two river systems using the same sort of baits.
Pumping yabbies at low tide and fishing the same shallow flats as the tide moves in should pick up a good feed of whiting.
Get the crab pots in before heading out for a fish as good reports of good sized muddies are being caught. Don’t forget, the (Salt Water) barramundi closure is on between the 1st November 2021 through to the 1st February 2022.
Barramundi still reeling in at Lake Monduran
With the northerly winds blowing over the last month, Monduran has been on fire and doesn’t seem to be slowing down soon.
Good reports of 80cm to over the magic metre mark have been coming in regularly.
Whether you are trolling or casting, fish are being caught all over the dam.
Some of the consistent lures being used are the Jackall Squirrels, Classics B-52, Rapala X-Raps and the Barambah hard bodies.
Casting soft plastics in the shallows like hollow belly’s, castaics, slick rigs and 140 Molix will give you the chance at getting that metre fish in the boat.
The wind is your friend, so follow it onto points and backs of bays and this should put you in the right areas.
