Wide Bay residents are continuing to play their part in protecting themselves, their loved ones and the entire community from the potential risk of COVID-19 outbreaks in the region.
Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS) Vaccine Lead Fiona Sewell said it was fantastic to see so many members of the community coming out and getting vaccinated to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“Our local community has done so well – but we need to keep up the good work and protect our loved ones along with our freedoms,” Ms Sewell said.
“This is the time to get vaccinated – we have seen the outbreaks in other states, and we do not want this in our communities.
“Now that everyone from the age of 12 is eligible, we want to see generations of families walking into our hubs and getting vaccinated.
“COVID-19 vaccine is our best line of defence in getting out of this pandemic and it is also the best way you can protect yourself, your family, your colleagues, and your community.
“We have the supply, so please take this opportunity to roll up your sleeves and be vaccinated.”
Ms Sewell encouraged those who were hesitant to speak with a health professional.
“If you choose not to roll up your sleeve, at least arm yourself with the medical facts,” she said.
“There is a lot of misinformation out there, particularly on social media – go see your trusted doctor and get all the information you want or need.
“Current evidence shows that people who have received a vaccine have a much lower chance of developing more serious symptoms from COVID-19, compared to those who did not get the vaccine.
“Vaccination remains the best way to protect ourselves and our loved ones against the impacts of COVID-19, including serious illness or death from the virus.”
WBHHS fixed clinics continue to operate at Bundaberg TAFE.
Vaccination teams also continue to conduct outreach clinics across our regional and rural areas as they are able.

WBHHS also continues to hold walk-in pop-up clinics across the region as able, offering people the opportunity to access a vaccination at a time convenient to them.
