Grab some popcorn, sit back and relax at Bundaberg Regional Rotary Groups’ movie fundraiser I Am Woman, raising money to end polio.
Bundaberg Regional Rotary Groups spokesperson Matt Griffiths said the annual movie fundraiser was a popular event and he hoped that not only movie buffs, but also the community would head along to show support.
“Every year Bundaberg Regional Rotary Groups all get together for a night of fun, with the aim to help end polio,” Matt said.
“We will run raffles on the night and for every dollar we raise Bill and Melinda Gates from the Gates Foundation will match it with $2.
“Polio has been eradicated from most parts of the world, but there are still places affected and we all need to come together to help get on top of it.”
Matt said each year they combined district Rotary clubs select a movie with an inspirational theme, and as I Am Woman is an Australian biographical film about singer Helen Reddy it was sure to enthuse the audience.
“Even if people don’t like this particular genre, it will be a great night out in the community,” he said.
“Will have about 150 Rotary members coming along and we are hoping for at least another 150 people from the community.
“Last minute tickets are available, by phoning the box office or online.”
