The second of Council’s Ideas and Conversations online webinars will focus on Industry Crisis to Recovery for the arts community.
It will be held on Monday 20 July from 12.30 to 3.30, featuring Pat O’Neill and David Berthold.
Rod Ainsworth, Council’s Manager, Arts and Cultural Services, said this Ideas and Conversations webinar will be an opportunity to learn from experts on making the best of opportunities as the Bundaberg region arts community emerges from COVID-19 restrictions.
“Pat O’Neill was the Army Commander who helped Bundaberg through its 2013 flood crisis so knows about our community, our resilience and our ability to recover,” Rod said.
“David Berthold is a well-known theatre and festival director, recently finishing his tenure as Artistic Director for the Brisbane Festival, so speaks the same language as our arts community.
“This conversation benefits from the professional industry experience both presenters have within industry crisis management and their involvement with previous disaster recovery.
“They will look at the impacts of crisis and talk about positive ways to move ahead.”
Council’s Arts, Culture and Events spokesperson, Cr John Learmonth, said the next webinar would be invaluable for all those involved in the arts.
“Those of us who went through the floods know what an amazing job the Army did,” he said.
“Pat O’Neill will be able to give such great insights on rebuilding from this latest disaster.
“I’m sure David Berthold will also have great insights for the arts community on taking advantage of opportunities as we recover.”

The series of webinars will culminate in a panel featuring leading local arts industry professionals.
“We’re hoping that we can stream this panel discussion from Childers Art Space during the exhibition entitled “Art as an Act of Optimism” in late August,” Rod said.
“In the meantime all of the Ideas and Conversations webinars will be recorded and can be accessed on the Arts Bundaberg website.”
