Forget the popcorn and soft drink, high tea and tasting plates are now on the menu at Moncrieff Entertainment Centre.
The Moncrieff has recently started to offer a range of new catering options for patrons and artists.
The man behind the scones and canapés is the Moncrieff’s new senior front-of-house supervisor Trevor Green. He’s otherwise known as “the host with the most”.
“Food has always been a passion and I have been cooking all my life,” Trevor said.
“My grandmother was an amazing cook and a lot of her recipes I still use today.
“Fresh ingredients and lots of love and care always produce the most delicious food.”
Trevor started his foray into Moncrieff catering soon after starting his new role by adding some pizazz to the $2 morning tea available after the screening of a free community movie.
He said his position was about ensuring customers enjoyed the ultimate experience and superior catering options were part and parcel.
“For morning tea we serve homemade scones topped with homemade jam and Chantilly cream, also cupcakes using grandma’s secret recipe,” he said.
Platters available pre-show
Following the success of Trevor’s morning tea he said the Moncrieff had started offering platters pre-show and during the intervals of most events.
“It is a delicious selection of tapas and canapés which I change regularly following what produce is in season.
“I also theme the platters to go with the movies or events that are being held at the Moncrieff.
“On the 12th of May for Mother’s Day the Moncrieff is showing the movie Tea with the Dames so I will prepare a mini high tea for the patrons to enjoy on this special day.”
Touring artists love Trevor’s cooking
Trevor is now also catering for touring artists including John Butler Trio at their recent Moncrieff appearance.
“Many of the artist that come to the Moncrieff have been touring for quite some time and they really miss that home-cooked meal filled with flavour and love,” he said.
“A lot are vegetarian or vegan so I use all local produce and give them a taste of Bundaberg they will never forget.
“I have had unbelievable feedback praising the attention to detail they never receive anywhere else.”
Trevor’s food isn’t just delicious, it also looks scrumptious.
“I believe that you eat with your eyes first, so I love to present the food in the most artistic and tempting way I can,” he said.
“I am known for my attention to detail and I love to see the reaction from the people when they see the platters approach them and then the second reaction when they experience the taste.”
Booking platters
Moving forward, platters will be available for pre-order as an optional add on at checkout when booking a ticket at the Moncrieff.
Platters will need to be ordered by midday on the day of the event.
