Colourful mosaic artwork featuring the region’s sea creatures has been added to a new coastal housing development.

Bill Moorhead, developer of Bargara Headlands Estate, said he commissioned local artist Paul Perry to brighten up the development on Logan Road in Innes Park with his highly sought-after mosaic work.

“I had seen some of Paul’s art in Bargara and I think it is just fantastic,” Bill said.

“He is one of the top mosaic artists in Australia and has a real eye for marine life artwork.”

Bill said he instantly knew he wanted Paul’s creativity to brighten up the residential development.

“What we have is a coastal estate with a heavy marine theme featured,” he said.

“Paul first completed a large loggerhead turtle mosaic right in the middle of our roundabout and there are also about a dozen other mosaics scattered throughout on rocks.”

Paul said he was honoured to have been sought out for the creative job.

“It really is a joy to be able to share my artwork in all of these public places,” he said.

“I am thrilled to be able to create something that people can enjoy for many years to come.”

Bill said the artwork was an important part of his residential development and created a sensory journey for future residents and visitors to the area.

“I really think visual art is important, especially for the community,” he said.

“Artwork on a natural canvas, in our case on rocks, really seems to resonate with people because it is something they can touch.

“People can feel the art and really appreciate the work that has gone into it.”
