Multi-sport enthusiasts will be hitting the pool early on Sunday to compete in the 2020 Australia Day Aquathon.

Hosted by the Bargara Triathlon Club, the event will make a splash at Norville Pool from 7am.

It’s an activity that is becoming a well embedded date on local sporting calendars each year, according to club president Jack MilBank, who said the event provided an additional opportunity to compete during a limited season while also adding some variety to the schedule.

“The community support for the event has been fantastic,” Jack said.

“With race distances for all ages, from our Turtle Race for the 7 to 12 year olds, the Give It A Try for 13+ and Full Sprint Distance for those 14 and over, it is a very family-friendly day.”

Jack said while the competition could get quite heated there were plenty of competitors in it just for fun too.

He said he local support from businesses around the region had also been a big reason as to why the event had been successful.

“We’re very pleased this year to have Bundaberg Subaru on board as a major sponsor,” he said.

Support from local businesses is what makes these events possible.”
