Palm Lake Resort is set to expand with a proposed development featuring an extra 131 relocatable homes for the site in Bargara.
Palm Lake Resort senior town planner Suzanne Jensen said if approved by Bundaberg Regional Council, the development would include larger-than-average homes for future residents.
“The home sites proposed are large enough to accommodate RV homes which feature an oversized garage big enough to store a caravan/motorhome as well as vehicles,” she said.
“This style of home is very popular in the existing resort.”
Suzanne said additional communal facilities were also proposed with the expansion, including a third clubhouse and a second outdoor pool.
“The clubhouse features a three-lane bowling alley, bar and large multi-purpose space, designed for entertaining and recreational purposes,” she said.
“It also includes a large north-easterly aspect deck, fire-pit area and semi-roofed pool for all-year comfort in the water.”
“The proposed facilities complement the existing surplus of common facilities in the resort and will be enjoyed by existing and future residents.”
According to Suzanne, the proposed expansion would be located across two properties adjoining the southern boundary of the existing resort at 24 Rifle Range Road, Bargara.
“The development will have frontage and access to Rifle Range Road,” she said.
“One of these properties was purchased by PLR in mid-2019, allowing the company to propose the 6.9 hectare expansion.”
Lifestyle key at Palm Lake Resort Bargara
The decision to further expand the facilities at Palm Lake Resort was an easy one to make, according to Suzanne, who stated the relaxed Bargara lifestyle made it a perfect place for residents to call home.
“Palm Lake Resort believes Bargara is a highly sought after retirement destination,” she said.
“It has a sense of community that attracts our residents to live there. The township has the feel of a sleepy coastal town but with all the amenities of a large metropolis within easy access, being only 15 minutes to Bundaberg.
“The existing development has been highly successful and when the opportunity arose to purchase the adjoining vacant land, the company seized the moment.”
If the proposed development is approved, 511 homes will be featured in the Palm Lake Resort Bargara site overall.
“If approved, earthworks will likely commence in late 2020 and home construction would start in early 2021,” Suzanne said.
“The building phase would then continue for a few years, generating many construction and service-related jobs for the local area.”
