A group of ladies with varied craft experience came together on Saturday in Bundaberg to make their own Christmas wreaths.
Some had never even used a glue gun, while others had so much fun at last year’s Christmas wreath classes they were back for more.
Whether experienced or not, under the watchful eye and experienced tutelage of Julie Crosbie from Julie’s Enchanted Florist, magic happened.
From bare wreath to work of art
The six women in Saturday morning’s class started with a bare wreath in front of them and were invited to choose from a dazzling array of native foliage, flowers, seed pods and ribbons.
In the following two hours, they not only learnt how to make their very own Christmas wreath, they also shared lots of laughs, family stories and formed friendships, under the guidance of Julie.
Meanwhile, as well as helping the class, Julie made a growing number of floral orders that continued during the day.
Julie has been a florist for 27 years and has been running the Classes for two years.
“I love helping people create their own floral creations” Julie said.
“It’s great to see them come in with a “blank slate” and walk out with something they’re proud to hang in their home or give as a beautiful homemade gift”.
Wreaths as individual as their creators
Apart from a few glue gun mishaps (the novice participants found out that glue is hot!) the willing participants – Jodie, Alisa, Geraldine, Anita, Amy and Trish – all worked away and made Christmas Wreaths which were all very different, but all beautiful.
Meanwhile, Julie helped with some final flourishes (they found out that bows that look so intricate are actually quite simple to make) and their Christmas Wreaths were complete.
