Experience Pacific Island life when the Bundaberg Region Intercultural Immersion 2019 is held in Buss Park on Saturday afternoon.
Multicultural groups are coming together βto celebrate and share their culture with the community as part of the Pacific Island Experience Milbi Festival event.
Event organiser Linah Mountford said there would be many local multicultural groups showcasing the island village including Ol Meri Wantok Bundaberg Inc, Bundaberg Indigenous Playgroup, Bundaberg South Sea Islander Group, Kapahaka Group, Kiribati Group, Tongan Group and Bundaberg Fijin Inc.
“Ol Meri Wantok Bundaberg is creating the βexperience as part of the Milbi Festival to showcase Pacific Islander communities in Bundaberg and the district,” she said.
“Visitors will be able to walk through βa village and experience life in the Pacific Islands.”
“Entertainers and dancers will be visiting Bundaberg to performβ as part of the event along with great tastes, cultural displays and storytelling.”
Linah said the village would also feature an interactive marketplace, arts and crafts on display and for sale, weaving, bilum bag making and much more.
“There will be plenty of entertainment with demonstrations and displays from Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Niue, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Kiribati, New Zealand and Australia,” she said.
“Bring the whole family along and walk through the village and experience life in the Pacific Islandsβ.”
The free Milbi Festival Pacific Island Experience will be held at the Civic Centre and Buss Park on Saturday, 23 November from 3 pm to 7 pm.
