Bargara Golf Club’s general manager Ian Witt is pleased to be holding a community New Year’s Eve event.

Bargara Golf Club’s plan to welcome 2020 in style has received a boost after Council approved funding for its New Year’s Eve celebration.

The event has received $5000 worth of support from Bundaberg Regional Council under its Partnerships and Sponsorships Grants program.

General manager Ian Witt said the club was looking to continue the great work of the Bargara Progress Association after it indicated it would no longer be able to host the popular community event on its own.

The event will be held across Christsen Park and the golf club.

“It’s bigger than Ben Hur,” Ian laughed.

“It’s going to be a massive event.

“We wanted to do it because we feel that it is a valuable community event to have in Bargara.

“If we do it right it will be something we can do for a long time.”

In addition to the Bargara New Year’s Eve fireworks at 8.30pm and midnight (subject to restrictions), the family festivities will include kids rides, face painters, market stalls and food vans.

Ian said with the coastal communities being a magnet for tourists during the summer holidays he hoped it would become a sought-after event for visitors as well as residents.

Christsen Park will form part of the New Year’s Eve celebration until 9pm after which entertainment will continue in the golf club until the midnight fireworks.

Free sites are available for market and vendor stall applications at the Bargara New Year’s Eve event. Anyone interested in hosting a stall site can contact Bargara Golf Club on 4159 2221 to speak with Ian or Julia.

Infants Friend is already on board as major sponsor for the Bargara Golf Club New Year’s Eve event.
