Environmental Health Australia (Queensland) has added almost 10 years of field experience to its board with the recent appointment of Bundaberg Regional Council’s Senior Environmental Health Officer Ron Paauwe.

Ron has been a member of this premier professional body since 2010 and said putting his hand up for nomination as a director is something he’s always wanted to do.

“This appointment will allow me to broaden my skills as I’ve never held this type of role before,” Ron said.

“I am looking forward to making a difference and being involved in the development and progress of the environmental health profession.”

Through this new role he said he would be able to draw on his experience when it came to decision making and maintaining high-quality standards within the environmental health field.

Ron said his appointment to the EHA board would also benefit Council and the Bundaberg Region as he would be in a better position to promote the latest in environmental health to his team.

“Having input into designing professional development workshops, education and training for environmental health officers will have a positive impact on the health of our environment and benefit the community,” he said.

“At the end of the day it will come down to a healthier community through improved knowledge, public health and effective control of environmental issues.”
