Film buffs in the region will have a chance to watch a diverse range of movies from the Sydney Film Festival when a special event is showcased at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre soon.

Twelve films will be featured over the course of four days as part of the Travelling Film Festival with the aim provide regional audiences access to movies they would otherwise not have the opportunity to see on the big screen.

About the festival

Australia’s longest running travelling film festival showcases Australian and international features, documentaries and short films in regional Australia.

Travelling Film Festival currently tours to 18 locations annually, screening in the Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales.

The TFF presents cinema in a festival environment and promotes a film experience that encourages debate, community involvement and interaction.

In addition to screenings, the TFF presents regional Australia with the opportunity to meet film industry professionals through its film industry guest and workshop program, whenever possible.

Moncrieff hosts film festival

The Moncrieff Entertainment Centre will play host to the event, with Bundaberg Regional Council’s Community and Cultural Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters urging passionate movie lovers to book tickets. 

“This is definitely one for the film buffs out there with some fantastic movies from a range of genres on offer,” Cr Peters said.

“The festival screens over a full weekend; opening on a Friday night complete with an Opening Night function, and continues over Saturday, Sunday and Monday screening a total of ten features and two Australian short films.

Cr Peters said there would be something for everyone at the Bundaberg event.

“There will be themes celebrating friendship, the journey to farm life, love stories and even a documentary on AFL champion footballer Adam Goode,” Cr Peters said.

The Travelling Filmn Festival will be held at The Moncrieff Entertainment Centre from Friday, 11 October to Monday, 14 October.

An opening gala night will also be held on Friday, 11 October, followed by the screening of a home-grown feature Hearts and Bones by Australian director Ben Lawrence.
