The 2019 Seniors Expo, on today at the Multiplex, is providing important information to the region’s seniors through a range of stalls and entertainment.
Under way between 8.30am and 12.30pm, organiser Nina Higgins said it was a not-to-be-missed event.
“The Seniors Expo is an opportunity for the community to inform those who are seniors of all the things that are available to them,” Nina said.
Nina said the morning would be filled with entertainment and various activities to get the community involved.
The event will be officially opened by the citizen of the year.
“There’s been a wonderful response to the stalls,” she said.
“We will have as much as possible, everything here from funeral directors through to all of the care agencies … various activities that our seniors can be involved with and there will be some fun things too.”
She said there would be something for everyone.
“Some fitness sort of things and we have a display of chair yoga and the poets are saying some poetry.”
Nina stressed that it was important to attend 2019 Seniors Expo and take advantage of the information on offer.
“Even if you’re not a senior it pays to be aware of what’s happening and what’s available for you as you age and that’s what the idea is.
“They’re important and won’t cost you an arm and a leg,” said Nina.
The expo is part of a jam-packed calendar of Seniors Week activities.
