During Youth Week 2025, PCYC clubs across the state will host free ColourXplosion fun run events for the whole community to enjoy.
Find out what Acting Sergeant Luke Handley from PCYC Bundaberg had to say about their event taking place on Monday 7 April:
Can you provide an overview of the event and what it’s in aid of?
Our ColourXplosion events will be vibrant, fun celebrations of the most important week in PCYC Queensland’s calendar – Youth Week!
We are all about celebrating our young people and this is a great chance to celebrate with those who we are already connected with, and welcome other young people into our community who may not have linked with PCYCs before.
For those who haven’t been a part of a Colour Xplosion fun run, runners will be showered by brightly coloured powder as they make their way around the course.
Our events will be accessible to all ages, giving everyone a chance to join the fun.
How does this event benefit the local community?
It’s a vibrant, fun, free event being held with the simple goals of celebrating our young people, having fun and bringing the community together.
We hope it will be enjoyed by young people who already know and love PCYC, and those who haven’t linked with us yet.
How can community members get involved or support the event?
Our Colour Xplosion Fun Run will be held on 7 April at 10 am.
The best way to show support is simply to come along and join us!
Are there any local businesses or organisations partnering with you for this event?
We’ve been really lucky that plenty of local organisations have shown an interest in this event!
These include Youth Insearch Foundation, Widebay Hospital and Health Service, Peirson Services, Impact, Yourtown, Headspace Bundaberg and Bundaberg Regional Council Community Youth Collective.
Having all of these organisations coming along on the day really helps to make this an all-of-community event and we are delighted with the level of collaboration.
What is the history of this event?
This is the first time PCYC Queensland has held a ColourXplosion event in clubs across the state, but some clubs have had Colour Runs in previous years.
How can attendees stay updated on announcements related to the event?
The best way is to follow our club on social media.
Search for PCYC Bundaberg on Facebook and Instagram.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with the community about this event?
Just come along and enjoy a great community event! Don’t forget, it’s BYO white T-shirt and sunglasses.
