The newly revamped Laurisen Park in Kepnock features a fully-fenced playground and a host of fresh upgrades following work by Bundaberg Regional Council.

Located on Scotton Street, the park was redesigned with a goal to offer a safe and enjoyable space for children and families to relax and play.

Natural Resources and Environment portfolio spokesperson Cr Jason Bartels said the fully-fenced playground was an important feature of the upgrade and one that local parents had been calling for.

“Following feedback we received during a consultation process of the park upgrade it was evident that fencing was a high priority for our local families,” he said.

“I am pleased to say we have listened, and our Parks team has worked hard to transform this area into a safe space that gives parents peace of mind while their children explore and have fun.

“It is great to have delivered this project in direct response to what the community asked for.”

In addition to the playground, Laurisen Park also boasts a range of other improvements.

The basketball court has been fully refurbished while new picnic shelters, additional seating, and pathways make the park more accessible and welcoming.

New turf and landscaping support the use and amenity of the park.

“Whether it’s a family picnic under the new shelter, a casual game of basketball, or just a stroll through the park, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at this newly revamped space,” Cr Bartels said.

Looking to the future, a shade structure will be installed over the playground as part of funding from the Works for Queensland program, with completion expected in early 2025, adding even more comfort to the park.
