The latest Be Active Be Alive program gets moving on 7 October with a range of free and fun workouts available, including a new outdoor spin class.
Bundaberg Regional Council’s popular fitness program runs over 10 weeks with 189 scheduled classes and 15 different activities available across the region.
Spin Combo is one of the new classes on offer where community members of all fitness levels can hop on stationary bikes set up in Nielson Park in Bargara and enjoy a spin class in the sunshine.
Mark Amphlett is the personal trainer behind the class and said participants could expect a mix of everything.
“There will be a variety of high intensity exercise that’s low impact so anybody can jump on the bikes and do it,” Mark said.
“You get a great workout and it doesn’t matter what your fitness level is, we just modify the resistance and how hard you work so everyone gets a workout tailored to them.
“We’ll be doing the spin but if we get more people than we can fit onto the bikes then we’ll be mixing it up doing some interval running, some kettlebells and some battle ropes.
“Think boot camp type stuff but without the military person yelling, so a bit more fun!”
Mark has been involved in the Be Active Be Alive program previously and said he was excited to be part of it again.
“Anything that gets people more involved and more active, whether they join a gym, see a personal trainer or are just encouraged to walk and do some exercise on their own is a really good thing I think,” he said.
Something for everyone
This year’s Be Active Be Alive classes will take place at 21 different locations across the region with both indoor and outdoor options available.
Council’s Community Liveability, Sport and Recreation portfolio spokesperson Councillor Carmen McEneany said the upcoming program had been created to include as many people as possible.
“This year’s Be Active Be Alive program not only offers a variety of classes but a variety of times as well,” Cr McEneany said.
“Classes will run across all seven days of the week and will include before and after work hours as well as mid-morning and early afternoon options so that everybody has a chance to get involved.
“No matter what your level of fitness, the Be Active Be Alive program is about getting your body moving and enjoying some of our region’s beautiful spaces while you do it.”
Be Active Be Alive runs from 7 October to 15 December with the full program available here.
