With skills in traversing demanding terrains over vast distances, the Bundaberg Four Wheel Drive Club took the opportunity recently to assist in the 2024 Great Endeavour Rally.

Driving vehicles that sponsor Fleet Crew provided for rally organisers and support crew, club members were asked to take part in one of Australia’s longest running events of its type, which began in 1988.

Teams enter the rally and raise money to empower people with a disability and help the Endeavour Foundation with its various support programs.

Nearly 200 participants shared unforgettable moments, exploring the beauty of Australia and raising more than $685,000.

Each team was provided with a purpose-built system known as RallySafe, which kept them in constant contact with the Great Endeavour Rally officials and enabled friends to track the trip from home.

The Australian Defence Force travelled alongside the full field and supplied mechanical support.

In addition, a flatbed tow-truck supplied by Transport Field Services was there to transport any car should it be required.

A medic was also on hand throughout the rally for emergencies.

Starting at Roma, the field traversed private properties and back roads to cover approximately 4000 kilometres.

This included touching in at Hebel, Hungerford, Tibooburra, Innamincka, Betoota, Mungerannie, Birdsville, Davenport Downs, Stonehenge and finishing at Longreach.

Daily themes over the ten-day event, including Gold Rush, Where’s Wally, Races and State of Origin, allowed many of the rally participants to dress up and showcase some of their extravagant costumes.

The Bundaberg Four Wheel Drive Club was grateful to be included in this great cause, with members keen to support the event again in the future.
