BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS: A stunning variety of colours can be discovered in the Vera Scarth-Johnson Wildflower Reserve.

Nature enthusiasts are in for a treat as the Vera Scarth-Johnson Wildflower Reserve bursts into bloom.

Renowned local botanist and conservationist Maureen Schmitt will lead the special Bundaberg Regional Council guided walk through this vibrant reserve.

The unique event offers participants a chance to immerse themselves in the stunning array of wildflowers that the reserve has to offer.

Council’s Natural Resources and Environment portfolio spokesperson Cr Jason Bartels expressed his enthusiasm for the event.

“The Vera Scarth-Johnson Wildflower Reserve is a hidden gem in our region, and this is the perfect time of year to experience its beauty,” he said.

“We’re thrilled to have Maureen Schmitt, a passionate advocate for our local environment, guiding these walks.

“It’s an incredible opportunity to learn about the rich diversity of plant life that thrives here.”

The walk is designed to be accessible to everyone, covering an easy, flat 1.2-kilometre return track.

“Whether you’re a seasoned botanist or simply someone who enjoys a stroll in nature, this walk is a fantastic way to connect with our environment,” Cr Bartels said.

Participants will also receive a Wallum Wildflower Guide, which will be used during the walk to help identify the variety of plants encountered along the way.

“Our team will show you how to use the guide effectively, enhancing your experience and deepening your appreciation for the flora in our region,” Cr Bartels said.
