Residents will be treated to a dazzling welcome to 2025 as Bundaberg Regional Council coordinates a community-led New Year’s Eve fireworks celebration.
Mayor Helen Blackburn said she was proud to announce that Council was leading the charge to see the riverside celebration returned.
“Our community is telling us they want an event where they can celebrate the New Year together,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“We’ve not only listened but we’re working with local businesses to see the event returned and fully-funded by sponsorship.
“That’s why on 31 December we will host a New Year’s Eve fireworks event in Lions Park to welcome in 2025.
“Council’s role will be to coordinate and promote the celebrations but this will be an event funded by the community, for the community.”
She said initial discussions had revealed a high level of interest and support for the concept.
“It’s the intention that we will secure enough support to make the event cost neutral to ratepayers with Council’s contribution being in-kind through staff time and available resources.”
Mayor Blackburn encouraged anyone willing to help fund a New Year’s Eve fireworks event to contact Council.
The New Year’s Eve fireworks sponsorship proposal can be downloaded here for more details on the benefits for sponsors which will include recognition on promotional materials and an exclusive sponsors event.
