Wrap up the Easter festivities with the annual Woodgate Easter Fair, which will feature about 200 market stalls including a range of displays, live music, a kids’ fun zone and plenty of food.
Woodgate Community Events Committee president Lesley Christensen said there would be something for everyone.
“The Easter Fair first started in 1997 and has grown from strength to strength, now presenting a full quota of almost 200 stalls,,” Lesley said.
“We have everything you can imagine at the market, plants, clothing, jewellery, hats, hand craft, garden art, home decor, hand woven baskets, hand bags, fun rides, three car clubs (the American Car Club, the Early Holden Car Club and the Vintage Car Club), a karate display, live music from Bill O’Connell and food, food and even more food!
“We have a display by our local Rural Fire Brigade, Woodgate First Responders, Woodgate Mens Shed and our major fair sponsor Woodgate Realty.”
“I have a very hardworking committee, of only eight others, and together we organise not only the Easter Fair but also the Australia Day Celebrations and the Arts In Spring Kings Birthday long weekend of events.”
Lesley said the committee would also be running Lucy’s Tea Room, a barbecue and a raffle on the day.
“We at community events run a barbecue featuring our famous steak burgers – steak from Bucks in Childers, bacon and egg burgers and a sausage sizzle,” she said.
“We also run Lucy’s Tea Room where you can sit in air conditioned comfort and enjoy home-made scones with jam and cream, fresh sandwiches and an ordinary tea or coffee.
“We run a raffle at the market with money as the prize so you don’t have to be there to win.”
All profits made by the Woodgate Community Events Committee will be distributed to organisations who service the community and surrounding areas, such as Woodgate First Responders, Life Flight Helicopter, Biggest Morning Tea, Woodgate Wildlife Carers, Pink Ladies Walk for Breast Cancer Research, Woodgate Community Bus, Forest View Community Bus and Woodgate R.S.L.
