Bulls greats Chappell, Healy to play Bundaberg

Bulls Masters has unveiled another impressive line-up of Australian and Queensland cricketing greats to play in Bundaberg for the 2024 Bundaberg Tour, including legends Greg Chappell AO MBE and Ian Healy AO.

The Bulls Masters will be in the region 22 to 24 February for the annual event, which includes a golf day, school clinics, sportsman’s dinner, super clinic and the headline T20 game against the Bundaberg Invitational XI.

Bulls Masters Managing Director Jimmy Maher said there were so many passionate people in the region who supported the tour and helped it become a success.

“The Bulls Masters are delighted to support Bundaberg Cricket who are one of the most innovative and proactive regions in Queensland when it comes to fundraising and improving their infrastructure,” he said.

Bulls Masters Bundaberg Tours have raised over $250,000 for the Bundaberg Cricket Association since the first tour in 2018.

The game between the Bulls Masters and the Bundaberg Invitational XI has been closely contested over the previous six years with the locals winning two, the Bulls Masters three, and one wash-out.

Headlining the tour, Greg Chappell and Ian Healy are Australian Sporting Hall of Fame greats and members of the ACB Team of the 20th Century.

Greg Chappell described as indisputably one of Australia’s most accomplished cricketers by the Australian Sporting Hall of Fame where he was inducted in 1986.

Ian Healy was inducted in 2004 and he was described by the Hall of Fame as …widely considered the world’s best wicket-keeper when he announced his retirement in 1999.

Healy was the also the Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1994.

Joining Greg and Ian are some other Australian Cricket legends, including Darren Lehmann, Michael Kasprowicz, Carl Rackemann, Jimmy Maher and Nathan Reardon.

Also confirmed is Queensland Bulls legends Ken Healy, Luke Feldman, Gavin Fitness, Michael Philipson, Joe Dawes, Lachlan Pfeffer and Ryan Broad making this a truly formidable Bulls Masters side.

As part of the tour, an evening dinner event with the inner circle of Australian cricket will feature special guest Greg Chappell, MC Pat Welsh, internationally renowned poet Rupert McCall and leading comedian and ventriloquist Darren Carr.

The game will be held on Saturday 24 February at 6.30 pm at Salter Oval.

In the afternoon before the main game there will be a curtain-raiser game at 1 pm and a free kids Super Clinic starting at 4.15 pm.

Bulls Masters players will help run the clinics and kids of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend.
