There was plenty to celebrate at the recent Buxton Christmas Party where the community raised over $2740 for the Buxton Rural Fire Service (BRFS).
Residents and local businesses came together to support the party held at the Buxton Waterfront last week where guests enjoyed live music, a sausage sizzle and a visit from Santa and Mrs Clause with lollies for the children.
As well as the money raised for the BRFS, $1200 worth of raffle prizes were donated with lucky winners walking away with hams, gift packs, gift vouchers, electrical and hand-made items.
Co-organiser Helen Townsend said the event was extremely successful, with the highlight being the amount raised to support the volunteer firefighters who served their community.
“The weather treated us kindly, with a breeze present on the sunny afternoon,” Helen said.
“There were too many helpers to mention, those who donated their time on the day as well as behind the scenes, and then those who generously donated goods for the day and those who dropped in large notes and refused change when buying tickets etc.
“A huge thank you goes out to you all.”
