The mercury is rising for local Queen fans as Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic comes to the Moncrieff on 4 August as part of their first national tour in five years.
After touring internationally across Canada, Singapore, New Zealand, Europe and South Africa, the show has been reborn with sparkling new costumes and some previously unperformed Queen tracks.
Classically trained artist Dominic Warren reprises his role as the incomparable Freddie Mercury, singing and performing on both piano and guitar live on stage which has given him a deep appreciation for Mercury’s impeccable talent.
“It’s one thing to create these musical masterpieces, but a whole other thing to then be able to go and perform them in the unique, spectacular way that he did,” Dominic said.
“He is a very hard artist to replicate but it’s an honour to try!”
The show recreates Queen’s 1986 World Tour concert, featuring over 20 of the band’s greatest hits such as ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘We Are the Champions’, ‘Under Pressure’ and ‘Fat-Bottomed Girls’.
Painstaking attention has been paid to all the music, from the iconic voice of Mercury to the amazing guitar solos of May and the groundbreaking Rock harmonies.
Local audiences are invited to relive all their favourite hits from Queen whilst being treated to some of the rarer tracks which have been re-imagined with care and then performed live on stage.
With state-of-the-art sound and lighting and authentic costumes, the show promises to be the closest you can get to the real thing.
