Tickets to the annual Winnie May Scholarship dinner are still available, with the community invited to celebrate local nurses at the 20th anniversary event.
Partners in Care Together Foundation will host the gala dinner, sponsored by Heritage Bank, on Thursday 22 June.
The Scholarships have assisted over 40 Bundaberg Hospital nursing recipients to continue their professional development since it began in 2004.
Valued up to $6,000, the scholarships are generously donated by descendants of Bundaberg Nursing Pioneer Winnie May and her uncle Dr Thomas Henry May who was a surgeon, medical superintendent and principle founding member of Bundaberg Hospital.
Alongside the Winnie May Scholarship, the Melanie Robinson Midwifery Scholarship ($1000) and Sharon Benson Cancer Care Scholarship ($1500) will be awarded.
Chair of Partners in Care Together, Trish Mears, said the scholarships were an important part of the Foundation.
“Recognising Bundaberg Hospital’s nurses is such an important part of the foundation’s work,” Trish said.
“We are very grateful to the families who have made these scholarships possible and who can continue the legacy of Winnie May, Melanie Robinson and Sharon Benson and support our nurses into the future.
“We would encourage everyone to come along to the Awards Night to celebrate our nurses, not only those who are doing great work today, but for the past 20 years”.
Tickets to the Winnie May Scholarship gala dinner are available to the general public for $40 per person until 5 pm Monday 19 June from www.partnersincaretogether.org.au/events
