A water bore pump station refurbishment and sewer system upgrades will be taking place in the Bundaberg Region over the coming months.
Blamey Street Water Bore Pump Station – Avenell Heights
A planned refurbishment at Blamey Street Water Bore Pump Station will be undertaken this month and will include:
- Pump removal from the station for overhaul and refurbishment
- Cleaning of the bore screens to ensure the pumps flow is optimal
- Flushing of the station’s pipework to clean out any discoloured water from the refurbishment process
- CCTV and station condition assessment
- Pump re-instated and brought back online
The station pumps to a treatment plant, so there will be no changes to the water supply in the area.
There will be some noise pollution caused during the cleaning of the station’s screens.
This operation will be conducted for one day, between 8 am and 4 pm.
Neighbouring residents will be advised a week prior to this operation beginning.
Elliott Heads Road Sewerage Pump Station – Avenell Heights
An upgrade of the control switchboard at Elliott Heads Road sewerage pumping station in Avenell Heights will be undertaken from February to June 2023, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7 am and 4 pm.
Work will include:
- Changed traffic signage/conditions and construction fencing
- Installation of a new power supply pole and conduit
- Swap over of the old to new switchboard
- Replacement of the wells top slab, including installation of new access hatches
The upgrade aims to ensure Council’s installations conform to the current electrical standards and the latest in control and monitoring systems are utilised at the station.
The sewer system of the area is not expected to be affected by these works.
Pettigrew Drive Sewerage Pump Station – Kalkie
An upgrade of the control switchboard at Pettigrew Drive sewerage pumping station in Kalkie will take place from March to June 2023 between the hours of 7 am to 4 pm.
The upgrade will feature:
• Identification of property boundaries
• Installation of a new power supply conduit
• Swap over of the old to new switchboard
• Repair of retaining wall and access hatches
The upgrade aims to ensure Council’s installations conform to the current electrical standards and the latest in control and monitoring systems are utilised at the station.
The sewer system of the area is not expected to be affected by these works.
