The 2023 NRL draw was released this morning, with the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs set to take on the Redcliffe Dolphins at Salter Oval on Sunday, 30 July at 2 pm.
After the club’s first Bundaberg home game was a sell out in August, the Bulldogs are looking forward to coming back to the region.
Bulldogs Chief Executive Officer Aaron Warburton said the club was excited to be returning to the much-loved area.
“Last year was the first-ever NRL match to be played in Bundaberg and it was a sell-out event,” Aaron said.
“We enjoyed great support for the game and the club and players are really looking forward to returning in 2023.
“This year we will be bringing in even more grandstand seats to increase capacity and cater to more local and traveling Bulldogs fans so that they can come along and enjoy the event.
“We thank the Queensland Government via Tourism and Events Queensland and Bundaberg Regional Council for their ongoing support and for making a return to Bundaberg in 2023 a possibility.”
Bundaberg Region Mayor Jack Dempsey said after the great success of this year’s match, he was looking forward to seeing another great game in 2023.
“We are proud to welcome the Bulldogs back to the region after a successful first game here earlier this year,” Mayor Dempsey said.
“We saw the team visit schools, local businesses and promote the game of rugby league in Bundaberg, while the match itself saw great economic benefits for the entire Bundaberg Region.
“I look forward to seeing the clash against the Dolphins!”
The 2023 season is the Dolphins first in the NRL competition and will also have a close connection the region with Bundaberg’s Felise Kaufusi signed to the team from the 2023 season.
