The Frocktober Tea Party at Childers Arts Space invites the community to celebrate Seniors Month and enjoy a morning of social connection and good food.
To be held on Thursday 20 October the event will raise much needed funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, with the morning tea set in the gallery space and veranda overlooking historic Childers.
Council’s Arts, Culture and Events portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said the event was a fantastic way to meet new people within the community while having some fun and supporting an important cause.
“Senior’s Month is a fantastic initiative in which we encourage as many people as possible to get out and have a good time, while providing an opportunity for them to meet new people,” Cr Learmonth said.
“The morning tea is raising funds to support research into Ovarian cancer, which is one of the least understood cancers, affecting thousands of women.
“I encourage everyone to frock up and support this great event.”
It is estimated that over the next 10 years, 14,000 Australian women will die from Ovarian cancer, with early detection having the potential to save 8,000 women.
Currently, the majority of diagnoses are made in the advance stages of the disease.
Tickets to the event are $5, with all proceeds being donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

The aim of senior’s month is to increase the feeling of social connectedness for all Queenslanders.
