Get ready bookworms, Lifeline Queensland’s popular Bundaberg Bookfest returns to the community this Friday.
Following a hugely successful event in March where more than 60 crates of pre-loved books were sold, the Lifeline Bundaberg team will be holding another highly anticipated Bookfest across three days at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct.
The September Bookfest is set to be the biggest yet, with 99 crates of quality second-hand books up for grabs.
Books start as low as 50 cents with a huge variety on offer in a range of categories.
A new addition to the event will be the inclusion of three dedicated tables at a $2.50 price point.
A range of puzzles, games, DVDs, Lego, records, sheet music and collectables will also be available.
Lifeline Bundaberg and Fraser Coast business manager Kylie Brodgen said there would be a massive number of books on offer, so everyone could be assured of picking up a quality read.
“We had such a terrific turn out from the local community in March as we hadn’t had a bookfest for two years,” Kylie said.
“We have worked hard over these past six months to build on that success, having accumulated more than 90 crates of books for book lovers to come and browse through.”
Kylie said all proceeds from the book sales would go directly back to funding Lifeline’s 24/7 Crisis Support services which continued to be in high demand.
“The Bundaberg Bookfest is a great opportunity for families to come and fill a bag of books at great prices, knowing that every purchase is helping save a life,” she said.
“For those people needing to refuel throughout the event, this Bookfest will have a mobile food cart and coffee van on site.
“We know that people literally lose themselves in the mammoth number of books we have at Bookfest, so people can easily take a quick break to re-energise and restart the book hunt all over again!”
It’s recommended to wear comfy shoes and to BYO book carrying device, or you can purchase a Lifeline bag for $1.
“We are very excited to be bringing Bookfest back to the Bundaberg community, and we will be restoking over the entire length of the event so everyone can be assured of picking up a quality read,” Kylie said.
Bookfest Bundaberg will run Friday 23 September to Sunday 25 September, from 8 am to 4 pm daily, at the Main Pavilion, Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, Bundaberg.
