Celebrity chef Janelle Bloom is looking forward to her return to the region for Bundy Flavours and she has even revealed just which local flavour is her favourite!

Well known throughout Australia, Ms Bloom is one of the original chefs from popular television series Ready Steady Cook, a best-selling author and has been an editor, writer and food stylist for more than 18 years.

This will also be the third time she has held cooking demonstrations on stage at Bundy Flavours.

Ms Bloom said she was thrilled to be returning to Bundy Flavours to celebrate Bundaberg Region ingredients.

“I love the array and quality of fresh produce, meat and goods like macadamia nuts, honey, etc that’s available,” Ms Bloom said.

“And you know I am Bundaberg Ginger Beer’s number one fan!”

You can see Ms Bloom on stage from 1.20pm at the event, to be held in Alexandra Park on Saturday, 6 July.

“I am doing a wonderful easy mid-week Mexican salad with local steak, full of colour, flavour and texture as well as a delicious dessert.”

Returning to Bundy Flavours, Ms Bloom said the list of things that kept her coming back was long.

“The people are always so kind, generous and friendly, the fabulous food and of course the warm weather this time of year.

“Watching all the locals walk around the Bundy Flavours markets with arms laden full of some of the best fresh and local produce around.

“Then cooking up some fabulous dishes on stage using the same produce.”

Ms Bloom joins fellow celebrity chef Alastair McLeod at the event. Mr McLeod is returning to showcase smoked fish open grill.

Major sponsor thrilled to support local producers

Heritage Bank has returned as the major sponsor for Bundy Flavours and Bundaberg sales and service manager Leanne Hermann said it was a fantastic community event.

“The event is a great way to showcase the impressive produce and community spirit that is synonymous with Bundaberg,” Ms Hermann said.

“At Heritage, we love supporting enjoyable and positive events and what better way for a community to come together than by celebrating food and fresh produce.

“There is a packed program with everything from the markets, to guest chef demonstrations, the BBQ stage and more.”
