Bundaberg Regional Council advises the Moneys Creek tidal gates will be opened in an effort to improve water flow across the causeway which is currently impacted by flash flooding.
Heavy rainfall and a build up of debris has impacted the area, making swimming conditions unsafe and necessitating the opening of the gates.
The removal of the tide gates will be outside of the normal schedule.
While tidal gates are open the bathing area located on the beachside (eastern side) of the causeway on Moneys Creek outlet is closed for public safety.
No swimming signs will be in place and residents are asked to avoid the area.
The tidal gates will be open from 3 April until further notice.
Residents should not swim in this area until the no swimming signs have been removed.
This action would normally be scheduled outside of peak times β like weekends and school holidays β however Council thanks the community for its understanding during this unforeseen and necessary works.
