Bundaberg Regional Council is continuing to support local community groups by approving several fee waiver applications and providing further discounts for events being held throughout 2025.

The events, hosted by a variety of not-for-profit organisations, will benefit from reductions in hire and other fees, allowing them to direct more of their funds toward making a positive impact in the community.

Mayor Helen Blackburn said the fee waivers were approved in this month’s Ordinary Meeting.

“Through Council’s Fees and Charges Schedule, not-for-profit groups are typically eligible for a 50% reduction in hire fees,” she said.

“However, these particular groups are being awarded even more support as part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to fostering community resilience and connection through accessible events.”

The events and the approved fee waivers are as follows:

  • Queensland Blue Light Association Inc. – Blue Light Disco events at the Civic Centre, with a fee waiver of $1,350.
  • Cancer Council Queensland – Relay for Life 2025 at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, with a fee waiver of $2,280.
  • Bundaberg Canine Club Inc. – Easter Dog Show 2025 at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, with a fee waiver of $5,693.50.
  • The Rotary Club of Bundaberg Inc. –  Ryda 2025 at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, with a fee waiver of $4,517.50.
  • Bundaberg AP & I Society Inc. – Bundaberg Show 2025 at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, with a fee waiver of $12,348.74.
  • Isis District PA & I Society Inc. – Childers Show 2025 at the Childers Showgrounds, with a fee waiver of $1,002.50.

Mayor Blackburn said the discounts would make a significant difference for the local groups.

“This is a fantastic outcome for our community groups who work tirelessly to provide events that bring people together, support causes, and create lasting memories,” she said.

“By offering these fee waivers, we are not only helping them keep costs down but also ensuring that their events can reach as many people as possible.

“Community organisations like these play a vital role in connecting people and enhancing local spirit, and we are proud to support them in any way we can.”
