Bundaberg Library has partnered with Good Things Australia to deliver the Digital Mentoring Workshop.

Registrations are open for anyone with a passion for digital literacy to take part in free training to become a digital mentor.

The Digital Mentoring Workshop will take place at the Multiplex Sport and Convention Centre on 31 March from 10 am to 3 pm with lunch and refreshments provided.

Bundaberg Library has partnered with Good Things Australia to deliver this workshop aimed at educators, community leaders, librarians, volunteers and anyone passionate about fostering digital inclusion.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s Arts and Heritage portfolio spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth said the training was designed for anyone with an interest in helping others in the online space.

“This kind of training is important because the digital world can be a challenging place for many members of our community to navigate,” Cr Learmonth said.

“Our hope is that this workshop will give participants the knowledge and skills to be able to guide and support others on their digital journeys.

“Not only will participants learn new skills and earn a recognised certificate, but the workshop will also give them access to personalised support and a network of like-minded peers.”

The digital mentoring workshop will cover key topics such as:

  • Defining the Digital Mentor: Understanding the core principles and responsibilities of a digital mentor.
  • Inspiring and Motivating Learners: Strategies for igniting curiosity, fostering a growth mindset, and encouraging continuous learning.
  • Overcoming Barriers: Identifying and addressing common obstacles to digital adoption, including accessibility, confidence, and technical challenges.
  • Creating Inclusive Learning Spaces: Cultivating welcoming and supportive environments that cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Essential Digital Skills for Mentors: Mastering foundational digital tools and platforms to effectively guide learners.
  • Facilitating Engaging Discussions and Activities: Techniques for designing and delivering interactive learning experiences that promote active participation.
  • Comprehensive Resources for Digital Mentors: Accessing valuable tools, platforms, and support networks to enhance mentoring effectiveness.
