Wednesday 19.03.2025: Mens Day.
Great to see a full green of men enjoying an afternoon of bowls, weather is just perfect having cooled down a bit.
Greens running to perfection and not a cloud in sight!
On green two yesterday we had another round game in the Mens Open Pairs:
Wayne Reis and Robbie Byrnes had a win over Rob Anderson and Phil Mullins Winning Rink draw: rink 1: Bill Cowan and Gerry Turner.
Runners Up: rink 2: Denis Smith, Paul Royan and Stephen Cole.
Consolation: rink 6: Ian Tod, Ken Collins and Maurie Strano.
Thursday 20.03.2025: Oyster and Fee’s Day.
Those of us here at Woodgate had our usual fun day out on the green, always a more relaxed day, more about enjoying the day than winning!
Well OK we all like to be winners, but if you have a great day out with good company, then you’re a winner anyway!

Saturday 22.03.2025:
Today we had social self select pairs as well as The Wide Bay Challenge games played out on our greens.
The WBC games were a feast of great bowls, the team from Uranian, Hervey Bay were sitting on the top of the points ladder! Woodgate were sitting ‘on the other end’!
However some great games saw Woodgate win three out of five games to take the overall points and win the day!

Sunday 23.03.2025: Paddle Pop Triples with several games in the Open Pairs Competition, both Men’s and Ladies.
Ladies first: S. Fiona Dowling and Jane Herd-Evans had a win over S. Gail Lenz and Raels Cahill.
Mens Open Pairs:
S. Dave Mollison and Clinton Dowling had a win over S. Rob James and John Robinson.
S. Robbie Hannah and Trevor Christensen had a win over S. Bob Winzar and Chris Hooper.
S. Maurie Strano and Keith Sleep had a win over S. Archie Bishop and Rob Royan.
A great battle that went right down to the very last bowls, kept the crowd on the edge of our seats!

UPDATE ON NEW SHADES:
Great news! The new shades have been installed.
We are back in action on our usual playing days of Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Play starts at 1pm.

As you are aware, Jayne Jones, Nola Costa, Jill Callaway and Roslyn Byers have been selected in the District Side to contest the State Championships.
The District Side are conducting a fund-raising cent sale on Saturday 5th April commencing at 1.30pm at Burnett Bowls Club.
Any prizes you would like to donate would be very much appreciated.
These can be dropped off at our bowls club by Wednesday 2nd April.

WIDE BAY BOWLS CLASSIC (WBBC)
Round 3 Results: Burnett defeated Pialba 3 rinks to 2 rinks.
Congratulations to the Men’s Fours (22-11), Men’s Pairs (23-10) and the Ladies Triples (41-7) for winning their rinks.
The Men’s Triples were all square playing the last end and dropped a 2 to be narrowly beaten 17-19.
Saturday 29th March Round 4 is Vs Urangan at Burnett.
Start time is 12.30pm with practice commencing at 12 Noon.
Selected teams for round 4 will be posted on the Club Noticeboard on Tuesday.

CLUB NEWS
Club opening hours are – Monday (Club closed), Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 11am – 9pm, Thursday 2pm – 9pm, Friday 10am – 9pm, Saturday 10am – 6pm (10pm for Functions) Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2pm.
Friday 28th March – the Goose Club raffle will be drawn at 7.00pm – tickets are $1 each with 15+ prizes to be won.
Tickets can be purchased from the bar or bought on the night.
The members draw will be conducted after the Goose Club draw – members must be present at the draw to claim the cash.
Live entertainment on Friday evening will be provided by Frost Bite.
So come down to the Club for a great night out with the chance to win some cash and raffle prizes.
The Bistro will be operating on a full menu, so come along and try something from the new menu.
