A playground with a giant slide standing 4.3 metres high will be a popular feature in the Moore Park Beach Parklands, bringing an exciting addition to the area as it undergoes significant changes.
Situated along Bob Nielsen Park, the new all-abilities playground is currently under construction and will be open to the public in early April, pending unforeseen delays.
It marks the next step in Bundaberg Regional Council’s Master Plan for the coastal suburb, which also includes a new community annex featuring three buildings to house a community hub, men’s shed and a storage and thrift shop.
Natural Resources and Environment portfolio spokesperson Cr Jason Bartels said it’s one of many projects underway in Moore Park Beach, including beach erosion works, the surf club demolition and ongoing construction projects, this new addition signalled a positive shift.
“The community has been incredibly patient as Moore Park Beach has become a bit of a construction zone but it’s short-term pain for long-term gain,” he said.
“The playground works are well and truly advanced and underway and will be an exciting feature and a fantastic resource for families.”

Designed by local company Willplay and constructed as part of the Moore Park Beach landscaping package, the playground will include a wide range of engaging elements such as climbing frames, slides, stepping stones, and adventure activities and a large tower with attached slide.
Shade sails will also be installed as part of its construction.
Cr Bartels said the new playground was one of many transformations taking shape in the area and was all thanks to the input of residents.
“Everything that’s happening at Moore Park Beach is a direct result of extensive community consultation over many years,” he said.
“This playground, along with other developments like the community hub, shows the ongoing commitment to enhancing the area’s appeal and liveability.
“We’re hoping that the playground will also attract people from other areas to come and experience the beauty of Moore Park Beach.”
It is nice to know that Moore Park Beach hasn’t been forgotten all together, just a pity common sense did not come into some of the planning for all the money that has been spent. A giant children’s play ground in a park with one BBQ. The new seating area on the western side has no shade from the silly little cover that is over it & tables so close you are nearly on top of each other. What happened to the water park that we were told we were going to get which could have been used for all ages not just kids like the playground. The new hub, mens shed & arts building??? They are built so that they block the ocean breeze & the buildings with glass face the west!! The arts building is 4 times the size of the hub. Is it going to be open 6 days a week? All the trees that have been planted are dying or dead from not being watered. What a waste of money. We haven’t even got a proper coffee shop where we can sit & enjoy the breeze. A van & paper cups with no seating doesn’t cut it
