Community members interested in trying their hand at some social card and board games are invited to join the upcoming Fun and Games sessions at the library.
Sessions will take place fortnightly on Wednesday afternoons from 1.30 to 3 pm with games including Uno, Scrabble and Yahtzee.
The gatherings are open to adults only with no previous experience of the games required.
Bundaberg Regional Council’s Arts and Heritage portfolio spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth said the development of adult programming was part of the Bundaberg Regional Libraries’ strategic plan.
“While the library already has fantastic technology programs in place, it was also important to offer some non-technology programs to give people the option to do something fun and social,” Cr Learmonth said.
“Anyone is welcome to come along and have a go at that week’s game, even just to enjoy the company.
“These kinds of programs not only invest in community wellbeing but also illustrate the value of the library as a space everyone can use together.”
Sessions are free to attend with no bookings required and all gaming elements provided.
Games will be played using standard rules unless players have mutually agreed on their own house rules.
“The only real rules are that games are to be played for fun and everyone must be treated respectfully,” Cr Learmonth said.
“If everyone plays their cards right then hopefully more games can be introduced as the weeks go on.”
