The Bundaberg Multiplex was buzzing with activity on Sunday as the community gathered for the 13th annual Move it Expo.

The free Council event saw around 50 stallholders showcase the best in local sport, health and fitness opportunities with guests able to chat to groups, clubs and experts, and even enjoy competitions and prize draws.

There were also plenty of fun activities to keep the crowds busy with everything from table tennis to aerial fitness, dancing and inflatable field hockey, as well as PCYC Bundaberg featuring their programs including gymnastics, Little N Active, futsal and indoor bowls.

Community Liveability, Sport and Recreation portfolio spokesperson Councillor Carmen McEneany said the Move it Expo was always a great day out with staff estimating well over 1,000 people through the doors.

“We have lots of stallholders and lots of entertainment for young and old,” Cr McEneany said.

“We all know how important it is to get out and exercise and do things but sometimes we don’t know where to start.

“So it’s good to come along and see lots of different things you can do in our area – there’s so much!”

Kerri-Anne Lund from Bundaberg Hockey Association said it was the club’s fifth year being part of the Move it Expo.

“It’s a great way for us to promote our beautiful sport of hockey and we’re always interactive with our inflatable field,” Kerri-Anne said.

“It gives us a chance to give hockey to the Bundaberg community.

“It’s always hard when you don’t know a sport before you try it so at least the kids can come in and parents can have an idea of if they will like hockey or not but it also gives them a runaround while we’re here.

“The big promotion for us is to be able to supply a sport that’s also fun which is a big key to making kids happy to be fit.”

The expo included an exciting stage line up with demonstrations from CityFit, Baylando Latin Fusion, Zumba with Bec, Cane Country Squares, and Coral Coast Self Defence and Taekwon-do.

A highlight of the stage program was an appearance from local Olympic discus star Taryn Gollshewsky who had just arrived back from competing in the 2025 Adelaide Invitational as part of the Chemist Warehouse Australian Summer Series the day before.

Taryn answered questions around her successful sporting career and trip to the Olympic Games in Paris last year.

After Party

Those after more fitness fun returned to the Multiplex later for the Move it Expo After Party where they enjoyed Carnival fitness from Baylando Latin Fusion as well as Zumba with Bec.

Bec Grotherr, owner of Zumba with Bec, said she had been part of the expo for the past seven years.

“It’s a great exhibition to see what’s out there in Bundaberg and everyone can try something different, something they might not realise was there,” Bec said.

“You don’t have to be perfect just come along and dance and have a great time.

“Everyone from young to old, we love to dance so it’s open to everyone.

“Just keep moving, don’t stop moving – that’s the motto keep your body healthy!”
