Well how excited are we, one of our own has been recognised by the wider bowl’s community!
Cheryl Goodhew, ‘the quiet achiever’ has been awarded the BDBA Ladies Bowler of the year 2024.
Congratulations Cheryl, couldn’t have gone to a more deserving Lady, our Ladies Singles Open Champion and a dedicated hard worker for the Club.
The award is in recognition of Cheryl’s achievements both locally and in the district bowls competition.
We are all so very proud of you and honoured to have you as a member of our club.

Ladies first: Gail Lenz had a win over Beth Clark-Coolee, thanks to Marjo Greiner for standing as marker for the game.
Good to see a new bowler out playing in the open competition, a great learning experience.

SOCIAL BOWLS EVENTS
Visitors are most welcome on all playing days. Entry sheets are at the club or phone the Club on 41514217 during opening hours. If you cannot get through to the club number regarding bowls, then please phone 0403531304.
Tuesday 18th February: Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1 pm start.
Thursday 20th February: Coaching/Practice Drills – Thursday Coaching and Practice Drills will recommence this Thursday. This is open to all bowlers regardless of ability level. One on one coaching is available upon request. Session will start at 2.15pm and conclude at 4.15pm. Members from any Club are welcome to attend. Hope to see you there.
Thursday 20th February: Night Bowls – names in by 6.00pm ready for a 6.30pm start. Anyone wishing to try Bowls for the first time will be most welcome. Great way to beat the heat and to meet new people. The ‘Pick the Joker’ Jackpot is played each week with the chance to win some cash.
Friday 21st February: Open Pairs – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.30pm for a 1 pm start.

WIDE BAY BOWLS CLASSIC (WBBC)
Burnett has entered a team in Division 2 for the WBBC. Div 2 consists of Men’s Fours, Men’s Triples, Men’s Pairs, Mixed Fours and Ladies Triples. Therefore, we require 11 men and 5 ladies each week. The following Clubs have nominated for Div 2 – Bargara, The Waves, Urangan, Pialba, Woodgate and Burnett. We will have 3 home games and 2 away games. The Draw has been published and is on the Club Noticeboard. Round 1 is on Saturday 8th March Vs Woodgate at Woodgate. The Club Selectors will meet shortly to select the teams for round 1.
BURNETT PRESIDENTS DAY
President Dave will be hosting his Presidents Day on Sunday 2nd March commencing at 1.00pm. All Burnett members (Men & Ladies) are requested to attend to play against the visiting teams from the other District Clubs. Please place your name on the nomination sheet at the Club.

CLUB NEWS
BISTRO UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT – the ‘Sage and Salt’ Bistro will be opening this Wednesday (19th Feb) with lunch from 11.30am – 2.00pm and open again from 4.30pm – 8.00pm. Come check out the new menu and the Bistro new opening hours.
Club opening hours are – Monday (Club closed), Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 11am – 9pm, Thursday 2pm – 9pm, Friday 10am – 9pm, Saturday 10am – 6pm (10pm for Functions) Sunday Bowls Days 9am – 2pm.
Friday 21st February – the Goose Club raffle will be drawn at 7.00pm – tickets are $1 each with 15+ prizes to be won. Tickets can be purchased from the bar or bought on the night. The members draw will be conducted after the Goose Club draw and is currently $70 – members must be present at the draw to claim the cash. Live entertainment on Friday evening will be provided by 2EZ. So come down to the Club for a great night out with the chance to win some cash and raffle prizes. The Bistro (Under new Management) will be operating on a full menu, so come along and try something from the new menu.
