The latest outing for members of the Bundaberg 4WD Club saw us head to a private property we are lucky to use as our camping and training grounds, on the banks of the Kolan River.
Members explored the tracks on the property, and then further afield, heading out to Eurimbula National Park.
A visit to the Middle Creek Campground was the first stop on our day trip to the National Park.
The camping area is surrounded by eucalypt woodland, pink bloodwoods, wattle species, casuarinas, and weeping cabbage palms.
The Middle Creek boat ramp allows access to the mangrove-lined water system.
From atop the rise views of the Bustard Head Lighthouse could be seen.
The next stop was at the Eurimbula Creek camping area.
Shady camp sites behind Bustard Beach allow for a short walk to the creek and the beach.
It is possible to launch small boats from this camping area.
The camping area can be reached by high clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles only.
Back at camp we set up for our annual night cricket game, then onto a game of battle blocks which was a great way to get the young and not so young involved in a group activity.
Our latest edition to our camping gear was christened.
With thanks to the Queensland Government Gambling Community Benefit Fund we were able to purchase a “Lily Pad’.
This devise allows easier access and exit to the river for our aquatic activities.
The group was lucky to miss all the storms and rain that threatened all weekend and made the most of the water to cool off.
Our trip calendar is shaping up to be another busy year for the club.
Getting out and about is what we do.
