Australian music icon and renowned songwriter John Williamson is heading back to Bundaberg as part of his 55 years – my travellin’ days are done tour.
From humble beginnings as the son of a wheat farmer in the small Victorian Mallee town of Quambatook, 2025 will mark John’s 55th year in the music industry alongside his 80th birthday.
“It’s hard to believe it’s 55 years since I released ‘Old Man Emu’, so, it seems fitting to make a fuss about it after COVID messed up my 50th year celebrations and touring,” John said.
“So, here I go again, one more time around Australia.
“I’m excited about having a new album coming out in early 2025 and a new kid’s picture book.
“That means I’ll have some new songs to add to the show plus the old favourites I can’t leave out.
“It’s hard to stop when I keep people smiling.”
John is known for songs that tell stories about the land, the country, the people and historical and cultural moments that have defined Australia – his voice and song writing is deeply rooted in the land that he loves so deeply.
His live shows take the audience on a journey across this vast land, moving deftly between larrikin humour and touching pathos through a line-up of favourite songs.
From ‘Cootamundra Wattle’, ‘Cydi’, ‘Three Sons’, ‘A Bushman Can’t Survive’, ‘Rip Rip Woodchip’, ‘Galleries of Pink Galahs’, ‘Raining on the Rock’, ‘Please Don’t Forget Me’ and his calling card, ‘True Blue’, John touches the hearts of his audience, gives them hope and lingers in their memories.
Don’t miss seeing ‘True Blue’ performed live at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre before John’s travellin’ days are done.
