It has been another busy year, filled with celebrations of local news, community events, and inspiring stories that highlight the vibrant spirit of Bundaberg and its residents.

Let’s take a look at the top five most-watched Bundaberg Now videos from 2024.

Opening of Chad Morgan room in Childers

Country music star Chad Morgan’s legacy is on display in The Chad Room in Childers with news of it’s opening in 2024 taking the top spot for our most watched video of the year.

The room is situated at the Books@Childers store at 94 Churchill Street and is free to visit.

It features a range of artwork and photography celebrating the singer’s life and career.

Bundaberg Aquatic Centre Updates

The progress of the new Aquatic Centre was a hot topic for community members this year, with two videos making it into the top five.

The Bundaberg Aquatic Centre is set to be the region’s next great asset as construction on the three-pool project progresses.

Boolboonda Tunnel a great spot to explore

Featuring 192 metres of rock and a large colony of bent wing bats, the heritage-listed Boolboonda Tunnel remains just as unique today as it was when it was built in the early 1800s.

The Tunnel proves popular with community, being a highlight in our Top Five Bundaberg Now videos since 2021.

It is the longest unsupported man-made tunnel in Queensland, situated near the goldmining town of Mount Perry, just a 60 minute drive from Bundaberg.

Alexandra Park Zoo’s new quoll Mac

The Alexandra Park Zoo had a new addition with Mac the Quoll joining them in March.

Community members can visit Mac at Alexandra Park Zoo, Wednesday to Sunday, 9.30 am – 4.30 pm, the zoo is closed Monday and Tuesday.

Bundaberg Now most-watched videos honourable mentions

This year had many honourable mentions with unveiling of a plaque for Brian Ginn and yarnbombing in Childers being a highlight, alongside the beloved Bargara Turtle Park.

Yarnbombing in Childers for Daffodil Day

In a demonstration of hope community members have created beautiful crocheted squares and woollen lengths for a yarnbombing event covering trees in Childers to show support for this year’s Daffodil Day.

Brian Ginn’s plaque unveiled with Childers community

At the request of grateful neighbours Council has unveiled a plaque which gives formal recognition to resident Brian Ginn who volunteers his time weeding, watering, seeding, fertilising, and mowing an area on Ginns Road, Childers.

Bargara Turtle Park a family favourite

As part of our weekly Places and Spaces segment, the Bargara Turtle Park was featured.

The park is a family favourite, known for its unique playground shaped like a giant turtle.
