Whether you’re looking for wide-open spaces, unique play equipment, or shaded areas for a relaxing picnic, there are plenty of areas that are sure to delight children and adults alike, including:

Boreham Park

Boreham Park is a local favourite, offering something for everyone.

The playground features a variety of equipment, including swings, climbing structures, and slides, all set within a shaded and spacious area.

The park also boasts a popular flying fox, clown swing and an interactive water play zone, perfect for cooling off on warmer days.

With plenty of seating, picnic facilities, and a bike path, it’s an ideal spot for an adventurous outing or a laid-back family picnic.

Apple Tree Creek Community Park

Apple Tree Creek Community Park
Apple Tree Creek Community Park, located just off the Bruce Highway, has reopened to visitors after an extensive refurbishment aimed at enhancing accessibility and providing new amenities.

Located just a short drive from Bundaberg, Apple Tree Creek Community Park offers a peaceful and scenic spot for family fun.

The area was refurbished in 2024 and features a new playground, picnic tables, barbecue facilities, and plenty of green space to spread out and relax. 

During the refurbishment, the park’s historical elements, such as the heritage windmill and memorial rock, were preserved in collaboration with the Isis District Historical Society.

You can find Apple Tree Creek Community Park just off the Bruce Highway at Apple Tree Creek.

Laurisen Park

The newly revamped Laurisen Park in Kepnock features a fully-fenced playground and a host of fresh upgrades following work by Bundaberg Regional Council.

Located on Scotton Street, the park was redesigned with a goal to offer a safe and enjoyable space for children and families to relax and play.

The basketball court has been fully refurbished while new picnic shelters, additional seating, and pathways make the park more accessible and welcoming.

Shade sail installation is also on the way in 2025.

Gin Gin Recreation Reserve

The Gin Gin Recreation Reserve is located in May Street, Gin Gin.

Set just off the Bruce Highway, the Gin Gin Recreation Reserve is a popular spot for passing tourists and for the local community to meet with family and friends.

The area offers something for children of all ages, including a shaded skate bowl and large playground.

The playground boasts a 40 metre flying fox, a climbing tower with slide as well as play facilities suited to younger children.

Next to the playground area is a large picnic shelter with tables and barbecue facilities, perfect for that family get together.

Washpool Creek playground

Situated in Lathouras Court, Bundaberg South the playground has been designed with mostly natural materials to blend in seamlessly with its woodland surroundings.

Featuring a fort, slide, climbing equipment, double swing and balancing activities this nature-themed playground sits in Bundaberg South as part of the Washpool Creek Naturalisation Project.

Placed strategically to take advantage of the natural shade from surrounding trees, the play area ensures a comfortable and safe environment for children to explore and have fun.

There’s also a shelter, bubbler and seating around the playground so the whole family can enjoy the area.

Bargara Turtle Park

Situated on The Esplanade in the heart of Bargara is the Bargara Turtle Park.

Visitors can sit back and relax as they soak in the views, enjoy a splash in the ocean on beautiful Bargara Beach or watch their kids play in the turtle playground.

Forming the shape of an enormous turtle, the playground encourages interactive and imaginative play with multiple play elements.

Kids can slide down the turtle’s flipper or perch on its head, climb the mast of a boat, engage in water play and emerge from the turtle’s mouth in this fun and inventive playground.

Featuring shaded grass areas, shelters and picnic tables, Bargara Turtle Park is the ideal spot for a beachside picnic or barbecue.
