Local contractors have been busy with the construction of the Moore Park Beach Masterplan, with the Bundaberg Regional Council project set to provide a vibrant precinct for recreation and connection when it is completed next year.
After significant public consultation, the build began in early 2024 and is set to feature a community annex with three buildings, which will house a community hub, men’s shed and a storage and thrift shop.
Mayor Helen Blackburn said the transformative project would deliver significant benefits for the Moore Park Beach community.
“The Moore Park Beach Masterplan is about enhancing liveability and creating spaces that encourage social interaction, leisure, and active lifestyles,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“These new buildings will provide an important space for community groups and residents to come together, collaborate, and connect.”
Council has engaged local contractors Hallstone Constructions and Pulse Electrical to undertake key components of the works.
“It’s fantastic to see local contractors playing a pivotal role in this project,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“Their expertise is helping us create spaces that will be enjoyed by the community for years to come.”
The masterplan has been supported by funding from the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program, enabling significant upgrades to community spaces and infrastructure.
Key features of the project include a modern new playground, improved footpaths that connect public spaces, and a focus on sustainable water use with recycled water irrigation for the sports field.
Divisional representative Cr Jason Bartels said it was an exciting project that would be welcomed by the community and utilised by all.
“These enhancements are not only visually appealing but also functional, making Moore Park Beach an even more inviting destination for locals and visitors alike,” he said.
“I am very much looking forward to having this functional space available for everyone to enjoy.”
