Kinetic supports Special Olympics Bundaberg

Special Olympics Bundaberg is one of many recipients to benefit alongside successful recipients from Western Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Queensland

Sporting community for people with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics Bundaberg, is among three local organisations set to benefit from Kinetic’s new Moving Communities Fund.

The leading bus operator launched the twice-yearly Moving Communities Fund to support local organisations and not-for-profits that improve the livelihoods of the communities in which it operates.

The program attracted more than 200 applications from across Australia in just four weeks, reflecting an incredible array of worthy initiatives and projects.

Special Olympics Bundaberg brings sport, joy and inclusion to people with an intellectual disability or autism with programs for all ages and abilities.

The support will enable Special Olympics Bundaberg to provide athletes with transport to attend inter-club competitions in South East Queensland, Gladstone and Mackay, making it possible for more participants to attend overnight trips and foster greater involvement in these competitions.

Kinetic General Manager for Central Queensland, Marcia Shield said Kinetic was proud to support Special Olympics Bundaberg and the terrific work they were doing in the community.

“Special Olympics Bundaberg is a fantastic organisation that shares Kinetic values and we know the support will help them to deliver immediate positive impacts to the Bundaberg community where we operate,” she said.

“It was wonderful to receive so many applications from throughout the state, and such a broad variety of interests being represented from sporting clubs through to volunteer groups.

“While we couldn’t support every applicant, there will be further opportunities for other groups through future funding rounds.”
