Locals Colleen Whelan and Andrew Haupt have opened a new wellness business in Gin Gin, offering the community a variety of ways to improve their mental and emotional health.
What inspired you to use Gin Gin as the location for your new business?
Our family joined the Bundaberg/Gin Gin community over three years ago.
This has become our home and family, and we wanted to create a space where people can focus on managing their mental and emotional wellness, rather than on illness or loneliness.
What products and services do you offer?
At the Wellness Hut, we offer one-on-one private sessions using a variety of counselling and holistic modalities to improve mental and emotional wellbeing.
We also host community retreats, gatherings, wellness walks, cacao and Qigong sessions, breathwork, heart coherence, HeartMath trauma sensitive techniques and mindfulness workshops.
Additionally, we carry a range of wellness products such as incense, oils, homeopathy, naturopathy items, beautiful crystals, and other wellness essentials.
People are welcome to drop in, have a chat and explore ways to enhance their day-to-day wellbeing and relationships.
Our Wellness Hut also supports and collaborates with other small holistic businesses in the community.
What can residents expect when they visit the Wellness Hut?
Residents will enter a safe, inviting environment where they can browse, ask questions and gain tools to manage mental and emotional health.
We aim to create a space where everyone feels calm, supported and equipped to navigate their day-to-day lives.
Why do you think a business like this will benefit the local community?
While Gin Gin offers wonderful counsellors, community support facilities and religious centres, the Wellness Hut provides a unique space focused on connection and holistic wellbeing.
We offer a confidential, positive environment where people can find support, learn new wellness tools and build a sense of community.
Where are you located and what are your operating hours?
We are located at 61A Mulgrave Street, Gin Gin, between Bendigo Bank and the Medical Centre.
Our general operating hours are Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3 pm, Saturdays and Sundays times may vary.
Please contact us to check if we are there though, these may vary depending on workshops, retreats and other events.
Is there anything further you would like people to know?
The Wellness Hut is more than just a shopfront—it’s a community and family.
Visitors can join our private online community to receive ongoing support on their wellness journey.
We are here to create a lasting impact on the well-being of our community.
