The Bundaberg Four Wheel Drive Club celebrated its annual Awards Night and Christmas Party at the South Kolan Hotel Motel recently.

The South Kolan Rugby League Club offered our members camping at their fields so we could party into the night without the need to drive home.

The meals and atmosphere was great, with our large group front and centre for a festive time.

On reflection of the clubs activities over the last twelve months, we kicked off at the end of last year with our annual trip to K’Gari/Fraser Island, which saw members head up to Waddy Point, for a couple of weeks of relaxation.

Giving back to the environment we travel through saw us, once again, participate in the annual Clean Up Australia Day where we cleaned up at the Burrum Coast National Park.

Members also attended the annual K’Gari/Fraser Island Cleanup run by 4WDQLD, where 350 vehicles from 4WD clubs from across Queensland join forces to clean the world heritage listed island.

Weekend camp and day trips featured during the year. Trips in the local vicinity varied from beach to bush.

State forests and private properties were also used throughout the region.

The club volunteered to help at the Mount Perry Show, and the Mount Perry races, taking on various roles to enable the events to be held.

Extended trips saw members head to Woodford to attend the 4WDQLD Corrobboree, which was held in October, with 200 vehicles from around the state converging on the town for a weekend of activities four wheel driving related.

At our club campsite, we continued our training and other club activities.

Promoting responsible four wheel driving is high on our clubs agenda and are grateful for the support that people give us to continue our chosen recreation.

The Angels Community Group was the clubs chosen charity this year, with donations from the sales of our annual calendar, our Ladies Day Drive fines and any other fundraising we ran going to the group.

Members had voted on categories such as “Best Photograph”, best “Camp Cook” and “Best Club Activity” but others were awarded trophies on a tally taken over the previous twelve months, including the “Most Recoveries” and “Most Damage”.

The social night was a way for members to reflect on what has been another great year out and about.

We thank those businesses that support our club, and the people who allow us access onto their properties, to take members to those special spots that the public is unable to go.
