If you’re a Playhouse regular, haven’t been on stage for a while, or have always wanted to give it a try, you’re encouraged to go to the auditions this Saturday for ANYTHING GOES, the Playhouse Theatre’s first production for 2025.
Director Bex Hutchins says there is a part for everyone.
“The Cole Porter musical is sure to be a hit with audiences and is a great opportunity for new faces to join us,” Bex said.
“We are looking for men and women of all ages to audition for this high energy, high fun show.”
ANYTHING GOES is set on a cruise ship – the S. S. American – sailing between New York and England.
“It has a comically colourful assemblage of passengers, including Reno Sweeney, a popular nightclub singer and former evangelist and her pal Billy Crocker, a lovelorn Wall Street broker who has come aboard to try to win the favour of his beloved Hope Harcourt,” Bex said.
“The problem is that Hope is engaged to another passenger, Sir Evelyn Oakleigh.
“Song, dance and farcical antics ensue as Reno and second rate conman Moonface Martin try to help Billy win the love of his life.”
Audition dates
- Saturday 30 November – 3 pm Ensemble audition
- Wednesday 4 December – 7 pm Feature role and leads audition (audition pieces are available by emailing secretary@bpi.org.au)
“Even if you’ve never been part of a Playhouse show, we would really encourage you to come along, see what it’s like, join in the song and dance numbers and find out what a great show this will be,” Bex said.
