Bundaberg Regional Libraries is supporting the Zonta Club of Bundaberg which is once again leading the charge against domestic violence with its annual 16 Days of Activism campaign.
The 16 Days of Activism, running from November 25 to December 10, is an opportunity for Bundaberg residents to reflect on how they can make a difference.
This global initiative aims to raise awareness and inspire action to end violence against women and girls, with the Bundaberg Region playing an active role in the cause.
As part of the campaign, the Bundaberg Regional Council is partnering with Zonta to help educate and engage the local community.
Bundaberg Library will feature a prominent display of books during the 16 days, community members can access the book list and borrow the items to help raise awareness about the relevant topic at any time.
Arts, Heritage and Asset Management portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said the carefully curated titles would help shed light on the impact of domestic abuse and shed a light on ways to take action.
“The 16 Days of Activism program serves as a powerful reminder that domestic violence can affect anyone in our community,” Cr Learmonth said.
“By bringing awareness to the issue through resources, such as books in the library display, we hope to empower our residents to speak out and get involved in the fight against domestic violence.”
“We all have a role to play in ending domestic violence. Whether through supporting victims, challenging harmful attitudes or advocating for change – together we can create a safer environment for everyone.”
Community members are encouraged to help end violence against women and they can head along to the Bundaberg Library to see the display and learn more.
The 16 Days of Activism will run from Monday 25 November to Tuesday 10 December.
